Delicious, fast, and well priced

Their sashimi is amazing and very reasonably priced. Also check out the 6-seaweed salad, which has seaweeds I'd never seen before, and their faaabulous brussels sprouts, sweet and spicy and crunchy and arrived that way even via delivery.

great food

I am impressed. I have been going to this place for a few years, but I cut back last year because I felt that the quality and service dropped. They seem to be back to their high quality food and professional service standards.

I order from here almost every week. I don't mind spending a little extra because everything is always delicious and flavorful. The other sushi restaurants in the neighborhood are bland, except for Gari, but that is the most expensive around here. It's also a fun atmosphere for dining.

Great sashimi! Delivery is fast and reliable.

I normally order the crispy rice roll - and it's "crispy" as expected. Tonight, it's soggy. A bit disappointing.

quick delivery but subpar sushi and not a lot of food for the money. won't be ordering from here again and we've ordered from this place plenty. listen to the reviews. it's just not very good.

I love this place. They are slow but the fish is great. A great local sushi place. I have Ben ordering here for years. I am surprised by the negative reviews.

Have been ordering from Momoya for years but recently the food portions are tiny with the same if not more expensive prices and their fish has not been tasting fresh what so ever...when we called to find out why the portions have become smaller..they just said "its been the same since they started." Suggestion : Don't lie to costumers especially those that have been ordering from you for many years. will not be ordering from them again.

outstanding sushi and other Japanese classics in a modern interpretation

The bag looked like the delivery guy used it for a piñata and the fish tasted weeks old... Never again.

Stay away from this restaurant. They delivered only half a meal and they were extremely rude when I called them. They deliver very late and the food is subpar and very small portions. There are a lot of good Japanese restaurants to chose from so I would avoid this restaurant.

I dream about the crispy rice roll. Often.

We love Momoya, order from them all the time but today there was a piece of glass in my rice

Excellent fresh sushi, well prepared and flavorful entrees. Efficient service at the restaurant, love the minimalist decor and cool wood walls. Fast and dependable delivery service.

Big disappointment. The fish was not fresh. Couldn't even finish it was so bad. Only good thing was miso soup. Not recommended.

Expensive and average to mediocre

Food is good enough. What bothers me is how they nickel and dime you down to the last cent. The charged me an extra dollar to make my spicy salmon roll extra spicy. Just bizarre.

High quality but best for lunch since otherwise a bit pricey.

Fast, fresh and tasty!

Momoya is one of the more expensive sushi joints in the neighborhood, and the selection of fish and kitchen entrees reflects it. However, as much as I love dining at Momoya, delivery seems to be of slightly lesser quality. Overall, under no time constraints, I would choose to dine at Momoya than get their food delivered - for the quality of the meal, the ambiance, and the friendly staff.

Love their food. A bit pricey. Best chicken teriyaki (really tender white meat and sauce is not overly sweet0. Also really like the Crunchy Rice roll.

excellent sushi for the price/location. always fresh fish - fear not the raw varieties here. seaweed tasting is a favorite when dining in and tempura udon ordered in proved invaluable this winter season.

Delivery is usually very fast. Had truly excellent, fresh sushi in the restaurant itself. I avoid maki rolls, so can only speak to the authentic and varied nigiri, which was excellent. The eggplant appetizer is truly excellent; it's flavorful and (hopefully) good for me. I've only had limited sushi delivered, but usually very good. The chicken teriyaki is the best I've had anywhere. They must pan fry it or something because the skin has a nice crisp texture. (Ok, not so healthy). And they very intelligently serve the sauce on the side to keep the texture of the chicken and let you dip. Great. Delivery usually timely.

Get what you pay for- sushi was EXCELLENT!

Decent sushi, but not worth the price imho. I found much better in the neighborhood, particularly Raku II

Good sushi, if a bit warm when it arrived.

Although the food itself was quite good, it was absolutely NOT worth what we paid. It should never cost $75 for a sashimi platter and a couple of rolls. The portions were meager at best and the "special rolls" were no different than the significantly cheaper regular rolls. The sashimi platter doesn't even come with soup our rice, which seems to be a standard everywhere else. If you're looking for a good sushi place at a decent price, Tenzan is a far better deal in UWS.

I am a Japanese and I strongly recommend Momoya. This is authentic.

The only confirmation said 30-45 minutes. 70 minutes later, I called and was told, "So sorry, bad weather, the delivery guy left a while ago, he is almost at your house. We were too busy to call you." 90 minutes later, I called to cancel and was told, "So sorry, must talk to manager, delivery guy is almost at your house. Oh, so sorry, manager is busy, we will call you back" 105 minutes later, the food finally arrives. 120 minutes later, the restaurant finally calls back saying "We tossed in a roll for free" Well, I won't fight for my money back, but I can't see ever ordering from them again.

I would have given Momoya 5 stars if my food did not arrive 35 minutes late and the delivery person was surly when I mentiond to him that my delivery was late. Aside from the extreme tardiness, the food was actually quite good. The yellowtail with scallion was very fresh and the special spicy tuna roll was pretty inventive. It had a creamy sauce with almonds on the outside that gave it a kick. Would I order from Momoya again? The answer is yes but I'd place the order for an hour before I really want to eat!!

the chicken teriyaki was in no way good. :(

Food was actually decent, definitely not great by any means ... and they only got half my order. Ended up I paid a lot for a tiny bit... sweet.

Momoya has the best Sushi on the UWS. We have been there / ordered from there at least 20 times.
Posted 10 years ago by Jeffrey C.
Just tried for the first time. The salmon was tasty and fresh. Miso soup had lots of tofu and spinach and was great. And I love that you can order the rolls with brown rice. Delivery was quick and the packaging was very neat. The only thing I wasn't impressed with was the eel (in an eel and cucumber roll). Parts of it had almost a crunchy texture. I don't know if that is how they do their eel or I just got a strange piece, but I didn't care for it at all. I would definitely order from them again, just won't get the eel!

I love, love, love their Gomaae. Spinach in a sesame sauce... completely addicted to it. The Pea Soup tastes very fresh and light. Overall very good. I'd give them 5 stars but they are a little too pricey for a neighborhood restaurant.
